Durex, Inc. achieved IS09001 registration certification through successful assessment by Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc. on December 17, 1998, IS09001 is an international standard for a basic management system of quality assurance. The IS09001 quality system standard includes design / development, production, installation, and servicing. The IS09001 standard consists of twenty elements : management responsibility, quality system, contract review, design control, document & data control, purchasing, control of customer supplied product, product identification & traceability, process control, inspection & testing, control of measuring & test equipment, inspection & test status, control of nonconforming product, corrective & preventive action, handling/storage/packaging/preservation & delivery, control of quality records, internal quality audits, training, servicing, and statistical techniques.
The IS09001 standard is a requirement for a management system, not the structure of a quality department within an organization, The standard looks at how your whole organization assures the quality of your products and services. Every department at Durex is involved in maintaining the quality system and IS09001 registration. The standard focuses on the process of assuring quality, not on the final results. Total Quality Management (TQM) and continuous improvement are part of the IS09001 standard. Durex performs weekly / monthly internal audits of the quality system to ensure compliance to the IS09001 standard. In addition, third party audits of the Durex quality system are performed by Perry Johnson Registrars every six months to ensure IS09001 compliance. Durex management reviews are performed every quarter to review the quality system. The Durex quality system documentation consists of the following : Level I - Quality Manual, Level II - Procedures, Level III - Work instructions / Work order routers.
